My son, Aaron Dean Walston (AWAL), was a wonderful, thoughtful and kind young man. He had a great sense of humor, a strong work ethic and a big heart filled with the deepest love for his wife, family, and friends.
He loved life and lived it to the fullest-on his own terms-and didn't waste a second of it.
There are no words I can say that adequately reflect how much he's missed each and every day.
Aaron had many hobbies, interest, and achievements under his belt at only 34 years old. He had a passion for music, loved singing, and played guitar since he was a child. Aaron was also an experienced outdoorsman who enjoyed spending time in nature going long-distance hiking and camping as well as on and in the water as an advanced scuba diver. If he wasn't working on my car, he was tinkering under the hood of another. Between riding his motorcycle, practicing MMA, and challenging himself in obstacle course racing, he was our rock for support, motivation, and encouragement for anyone that needed it.
A special place in his heart was reserved for veterans and the struggles they faced transitioning to civilian life, an issue he felt strongly about. Having family and friends that served in our military, and seeing their sacrifices and commitments made, gave him a sense of pride and utmost respect for these men and women. It motivated him to try to find ways to help and support veterans on their journey into civilian life.
It is in this particular interest that we hope to continue his efforts and carry on his legacy.
